| Description: | Asclepius or Hepius is a hero and god of medicine in ancient Greek religion and mythology.The rod of Asclepius, a snake-entwined staff, remains a symbol of medicine today. In this marble sculpture, his curly hair and big beard make his facial features more three-dimensional. He narrowed his eyes sharply. He was half naked. Every muscle of his has been carved very delicately and vividly. With his left hand akimbo, he has the temperament of a god of medicine. He was leaning on the mallet wrapped around the snake in his right hand. The proportions of the whole body are perfectly carved, showing the characteristics of the entire god character well. |
