This Cloak is to me like something that will allow us to survive the vicissitudes of life on this earth; like the Hoffmannstahl drama that accompanied my childhood in Salzburg In “Jedermann” (everyone): We will always be accompanied by our beliefs, our good deeds, the love and support we give to others throughout our lives. The hollow part of this cloak is filled with our soul, our conscience, and our creativity, the very things that give us immortality. This image of the empty cloak has accompanied me throughout my artistic career. It first appeared in my painting “To be or not to be”,

Kraumi’s most famous work is the empty cloak, known as the Cloak of Conscience, Piétà or Commendatore, in the Cathedral of Salzburg, Austria, Stavovske divadlo in Prague, the National Archaeological Museum in Athens and many others. Now, Croumi is working on transforming the cape into a four-meter-tall church, carved from a single block of white marble and weighing 200 tons, in the Michelangelo Cave in Carrara. Kraumi often draws inspiration from music, especially opera; also classic dance and ancient mythology. Her work expresses admiration for Salvador Dalí and other Surrealist painters, and contains traces of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism and other Central European artists. The colors she uses, sometimes in sculpture, have a faint Turner feel.
